The Breakdown (Quotes from Sheriff Hillhouse)

-- Jail statistics. (1:20)

The inmates from Orange County are still in the Henderson County Jail. There 167 out-of-county inmates in the jail.

“With that many people back there in custody, everything is still running really well.”

-- Drive-by shooting in Eustace. (2:57)

A man has been arrested for firing shots at two houses in the Eustace area. He has been charged with two counts of deadly conduct.

“It appears that these residences were targeted.”

“We really don’t see it very often. From time to time, there are houses that do get struck with bullets, but it is usually stray bullets, or somebody target practicing on their property and not realizing what’s behind their property. Very rarely do we get a case like this that it was actually targeted.”

-- Ryan Bartlett became the newest reserve deputy. (6:55)

Sheriff Hillhouse swore in Ryan Bartlett as a reserve deputy. Bartlett is the final student sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office to graduate from the recent police academy class.

“It is good to know, in today’s environment, there’s still young officers that are just like  I was, smiling and ready to get that badge and ready to go to work and serve.”

-- Weekend fun events. (9:18)

The Henderson County Peace Officers Association will hold the Tom Underhill Memorial Golf Tournament Friday to raise money for the scholarship fund. On Saturday, Sheriff Hillhouse will be in a dunking booth to support the Caney City VFD.

“I agreed to it, I’ve never done it before. We’ll see how it goes.”
