The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has not only found homes for the wolf dogs from last week, but it looks like the story is going to wind up on Animal Planet.
Last week, deputies investigating a death found about 50 wolf hybrids. The dogs were well cared for, but because of their unique breeding they couldn’t just be rehomed to area residents.
The Sheriff’s Office has been contacting wolf rescue organizations asking for help, and the story has attracted the attention of Tia Torres from the show “Pit Bulls & Parolees.” Representatives from the show are expected in Henderson County Thursday.
“(Tia) has been a tremendous help in this effort,” Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said in this week’s interview.
Hillhouse said work by the animal shelter in Athens was vital in bringing the show to the county.
“They’ve been helping us since Day 1 on this project,” he said.
But that hasn’t been the only response.
“We’ve got people from all over the nation coming to help,” he said.
Hillhouse said he hopes to have all the dogs placed by the end of the week. You can listen to the details in the interview above.
